Bridport Millennium Green
A Year in the Life of Bridport Millennium Green
Throughout 2011 Bridport Camera Club is using the Green as a project site to record images from the gardens, the woodland and the meadow.
During the summer of 2012 there will be a photographic exhibition at the Arts Centre enabling the local community and our visitors to see the inspiring work of our local photographers.
HOW WE GOT HERE.
In May of 1999, Bridport Town Council learned that they had been granted £83,373 by the Countryside Agency toward the setting up of a 'Millennium Green' in the home of our Town Council offices. The then mayor, Cllr. Sandra Brown, went to London in the June of that year to hear this announced by the Arts and Culture Minister, Chris Smith. She was disappointed when she had to come home without the cheque.
The Millennium Green Trust was set up and work started. The project was completed and the Green opened by H.R.H., The Duchess of Gloucester, G.C.V.O., on 30th May 2001. We have to thank former Town Council staff who worked long and hard to achieve this for all of us to enjoy. Since then, the Green has been used for several varying events but it needs to be better known and utilised. A "Friends of Bridport Millennium Green" group was set up to help raise the profile needed, and to keep the gardens and the hill as we would wish them to remain, for future Bridport generations.

Guy’s presentation is entitled “More ways to take better landscape and nature photographs” and includes over three hundred images, most of which have been taken over the last two years. The images help to illustrate some of the methods he uses to capture his favourite wildlife and landscape photographs. The presentation is comprised of two halves, each roughly an hour in length.
Techniques such as painting with torchlight, shooting wildflowers with long telephoto lenses and how to approach wildlife are discussed in detail. He also touches on some of the techniques he uses in post-processing. This presentation is all about tips and advice so you can be sure to learn something new and will hopefully be inspired to get out there with your camera to experiment for yourself.
