Ein deutsches Requiem
The New Elizabethan Singers will perform Brahms’ “Ein deutsches Requiem” on consecutive Saturdays in February. “Ein deutsches Requiem” was Brahms’ largest single work and his first work for chorus and orchestra. Deeply moving, profound and powerful, its status as one of the greatest monuments of choral music is unchallenged. It is meant primarily as a consolation for mourning survivors, but also contains much hope and blessing for the departed. The closing section of the sixth movement is among his grandest creations. The work was probably inspired by the death of his mother in 1865.
Antique and Vintage Sunday
The Antique & Vintage Sunday is a monthly affair on last Sunday throughout the year in the Art & Vintage Quarter on the St Michael’s Trading Estate.
All the Antique & Vintage shops and The Alleyways Antique Centre are open so there’s plenty to see, do and buy.
The Red Brick Café will be open 11:00am to 3:00pm serving everything from their amazing cooked breakfasts, gastronomic delights for lunch and there are always their wonderful choices of freshly made cakes to enjoy with a cup tea or coffee.
